I have modified this to use in the car and it lasts a 1- Pound tablet well even when the car is moving. The height is adjustable with a twist lock. The angle of the device is adjustable with a ball joint and the fact that the top is a very rigid and strong gooseneck. (That's three levels of versatility.) It comes with matching tablet and phone holders that fit a ball joint at the end of the gooseneck, or a clip and short post with another ball at the end that attaches to the top . rigid bar and hold another stand so you can hold your phone and tablet on it at the same time. The system offers amazing versatility, even holding the phone in one direction and the tablet in the opposite direction. My modifications were as follows: remove the soft heavy metal base at the bottom, glue the epoxy to a smaller rectangular piece of wood, outline the bottom. made of wood to ensure the stand is vertical in the final configuration, tape velcro to the underside of the wood and console of my car and I have a detachable, adjustable, stable stand for my tablet in a moving car. If I had the cup holder in the right place, the modification to mount the cup holder would be easy and even safer. (My phone is windshield mounted and I didn't need a second mount.) I'm sure my mods have some limitations; The device is designed to withstand heavy use.
