The first thermometer I worked on for a day or two and then just gave up. The seller quickly replaced it with another one. The second thermometer worked fine for a while, but I was always careful when using it not to wash the handle as it didn't look waterproof (too many holes around the knobs). I got some lube on the handle one day and washed it thoroughly but it no longer works. I tried replacing the battery to make sure that wasn't the cause as I've been using the thermometer for about 10 months. But no, the thermometer still didn't work even after a few days hoping it would dry up. Why is it so hard to find a truly waterproof thermometer? As a kitchen tool, it must withstand cleaning.
