The best option for a broken case

Last year the plastic part of the remote control broke on my 2009 Honda CRV key fob. I took it to a locksmith who cut out a new key and put the old electronics in the case. It cost me $70. It only lasted a year and broke again. I wouldn't pay $70 every year. I bought a cheap blank key case from another seller and took it to the Batteries Plus store. They screwed up and cut the key wrong because they have a bad key machine. It didn't work Then I came across this article. I used an old key and electronics and put it in a bowl. It worked! So if your old key metal part and electronics are intact, this is the BEST option. It has a support at the base of the metal part of the key that prevents the key from breaking. Just follow the instructions carefully, esp. red circles on installation pictures, to help you assemble correctly. Also, the plastic piece that the key goes through needs to be properly aligned. It took a few tries to close the case, but it worked and the included screw (with a tiny screwdriver) secured the entire assembly. The Honda decal and manufacturer ID are a nice finishing touch. Now the keychain looks like new. Order another one in case the company stops selling this item in the future.
