This is a quality aquarium heater but in recent years the manufacturer has changed the manufacture and is now a few inches longer. For many aquariums this won't matter, but I bought this specifically for use with the Fluval EVO 13.5 gallon nano reef aquarium because the manufacturer recommends this heater for that aquarium. However, this heater is a few inches taller than it is tall to fit in the third water pump compartment as shown on the packaging and instructions. You can put it in the first compartment, but this precludes the use of a protein skimmer. Fluval should update their materials to state that they do not sell a heater that will fit in their own aquarium.
