I bought this 12vdc panel to drive a 12vdc variable speed pump motor that circulates water through a rooftop hot water coil. The old panel controlled the speed of the pump depending on the voltage supplied by the photovoltaic panel. It worked when connected directly to my pump, but after an hour the pump was up and running. He smelled hot and I was afraid he was burned. I was still working on my 12vdc power supply so good news. Then I added two buck modules in series. The first is set to limit the output voltage to 18 VDC and the second to 12 VDC. The pump is working as expected, drawing 60mA from the panel. The buck modules are rated for 2 amps so I'm hoping this setup will continue to work. A full sun in South Florida generated a maximum of 22 VDC on the panel.
