. It was a very easy 1 minute. Update: First remove the battery, unscrew the screw and remove the cover, replace the memory modules, put the cover, screw and battery back, and you can restart the device. I first checked if the memory is recognized by the BIOS (version 2.12, shows 8GB RAM). Then Windows came along (no faster or slower as far as I could tell) and showed 7.7 GB available RAM (instead of 3.7 GB for 4 GB SODIMMs). The updated Windows Experience Index for memory is now 5.1 (from 4.9) and the overall index remains at 3.2 (limited by the AMD C70 processor index). It's a good surprise to see an improvement in memory index. I recommend everyone to do this update. If, like me, you're running multiple memory-hungry apps, the extra memory pushes the envelope even before the OS switches, and switching between tabs and apps remains very fluid. to a 1080P monitor via HDMI, a good USB keyboard and a wireless mouse which I can still take with me wherever I need to and they work great if you remove the unnecessary software that comes with it and increase the memory to 8GB. I'm using AVG, Chrome with 20 tabs open, Eclipse with lots of plugins, Apache HTTPd and Tomcat, MySQL workspace, Cygwin, Docs in Adobe Reader, some office tools, remote desktop connection. I easily get over 4GB of RAM used, but nowhere near 8GB yet. This update has a positive impact on the performance of this machine for my needs. Quick note: I tried this upgrade with a cheaper unnamed SODIMM found on Ebay and it didn't work. Therefore, I recommend sticking to well-known manufacturers. I would save $10 (restocking fee + return shipping) and complicate time, . Just my 2 cents - hope it helped - Enjoy your upgraded car :-)
