As many have mentioned, the glass on this lamp is amber which dulls the light a bit. If this is your only light source in the room, this will not be enough. However, if you want softer "tuned" lighting, this is a good choice. One thing no one has mentioned yet is heat buildup. I initially put 3 60 watt bulbs in, left them on for 5 minutes and all the metal parts got too hot to touch. I replaced incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs as I was concerned they would overheat. Regular sized CFLs fit best - you don't need compact ones. But that reduced my light output again. So I will replace the glass with white frosted glass. This won't be easy as each of the 4 pieces of glass has a hole to attach it to the bracket. But I don't want to replace the bracket so I'll try and report back later. Mounting the bracket is also a difficult task. Something that will help is to use some long zip ties tied together so you can thread them through the base and hang onto the junction box while you connect the wires. Otherwise, it's a two-person setup.
