This is a simple device; it crossed your ethernet wires so you could connect peer-to-peer; It helps a lot in transferring data between two computers. This thing works great and I always get reliable 1G speeds. The only thing to note is that the connection to the female end is quite large. It didn't fit in the back of my PC where the ethernet port is usually where the USB ports (keyboard, mouse) are located. I was able to get around this by plugging it into the other end of the cable (i.e. in my case I plug it in on the NAS side, not the PC side).
