Great pedals right out of the box. Well, simply because I've been using Time and only Time pedals since 1987 and have never had an issue that outweighs the fact that it's the only brand I've ever found with the lift needed to keep your knees from bumping fall apart year after year. continuous racing and training doesn't mean I haven't looked at them completely objectively. For example, I made sure that the colors match my bike, that they match my white cycling shoes, and that I can put them on and take them off. Then I drove them 100 miles the day I installed them. then another hundred, then several more over the next 4 months. No problems, no complaints. Take my advice, find the right seat and pedals, everything else - frame, bands, brands - doesn't matter. Those are the two touchpoints that drive the bike, if they're happy, so are you. For me, mobility and axle height are important. The Time pedals have lots of float (adjustable) and a low axle height, which gives me more leverage on the ends of my cranks. What not to love.
