I've never used a dual action burnisher but I've used the old ones. The results I've had with this polisher have been impressive. I liked that there were a lot of pads in the kit. The only thing I didn't like initially was that the trigger was difficult to activate. I got used to how it works after a few tries. I don't know about the durability yet, but as I plan to only use it a couple of times a year I think it shouldn't be a problem.
