After riding on studs for my whole "driving life" (ten years), I decided to give Velcro a try after having a set of studded tires (gislaved nord frost 5) removed from my garage right before the season. I don't really have any regrets about it; the handling is good enough, the wheels make no noise, and there are no dropped spikes to worry about.
