Had Hope, Fails With Tension

I have several sun sails over a patio attached to the house and a pavilion. I decided to add 2 more so I needed a new anchor point so purchased this item despite not exactly great reviews. Lesson learned. Put some holes in my slab, got it bolted down, and attached one sail to it. Hand tightened the hardware and immediately noticed a bend in the pole. Turned the turnbuckle a couple of times to give it the least bit of tension I thought could possibly keep the sail from becoming a sail, and the threading started pulling out of the steel tube. Seems sturdy enough, but the way they engineered the screw-together sections isn't strong enough for even a little lateral tension. Now I have a bent pole, holes in the concrete, and a very light wallet. hoped this would be what I was looking for, as it's height is perfect but live and learn. Hope you don't make the same mistake.

Pros
  • Additional 24’’ and 47’’ extensions are available if you need more height. Sold separately.
Cons
  • The steel post may obstruct views or interfere with outdoor activities, such as playing ball games or hosting social gatherings
