I must have missed the 'huge' part of the description because my god I was surprised when I opened it! However, they are pretty accurate for what they are meant to be used for. I'm glad I have a straw to use for a milkshake or thick smoothie. The pointed end cuts through ice cubes, meaning you can actually get inside and have fun swallowing every drop. Although my husband hates it. ;) They're made of hard plastic and come with brushes, so not only can they be reused, they can be reused. They are not flexible like silicone straws and are not made of stainless steel. I don't like the taste of metal in my mouth, I prefer not to chip my teeth and I definitely don't want to slip and put a straw through my mouth. Hey, that can happen and probably did. However IMHO they can be as little as an inch or longer. After all, this is America and we love drinks so big that a small child could fall into a cup and possibly drown. Otherwise there is nothing to complain about with this set! I love them and I think you will be happy with them too.
