Cheap multi-gigabit USB-C network adapters are suddenly a dime a dozen, but USB-A 3.0 adapters are getting heavier Find. I used this in an old Mac Mini and it negotiated a 2.5Gb connection on my multigigabit switch. As reported by my USB-C adapters in my new Macs, Mac OS claims to negotiate a 1GB connection with this adapter, but file transfer and my Switch say otherwise. I can reliably transfer a file from Mac to Mac - both with USB network adapters that report 1GB - with around 2.2GB over my network. I'm glad I stumbled across this when I was starting to think I needed to get Ethernet to USB C to USB C to USB A Frankendongle.
