Used to replace an old sharpener of a similar design. Excellent in that it has three levels of grit for sharpening knives, and the last one is almost capable of making a razor blade. There is also a slot for sharpening scissors which I haven't used yet. I dug out an old, very dull knife and quickly sharpened it. As with all sharpeners of this design, you can't expect the sharpness you get with traditional whetstones and hardware, but it's close, quick, and easy. As always, you should have a good steel sharpening steel.
