I recently bought a pair of iPhone 12s. While I was at it, I bought an Apple MagSafe charger. I also had to buy a 20W power adapter from Apple since the end of the MagSafe power cord is USB C and all my outlets are USB A. All told, I invested $58 in the MagSafe solution. I also bought two of these for $11 each. I've read that only MagSafe is capable of delivering the maximum power needed for fast charging. I ran a simple experiment to see what that means on a practical level. I let my mini charge to 25% and put it on the ESR charger for exactly an hour. It went up to 60%, then I reset my mini to 34% and put it on the MagSafe charger for exactly an hour. Came out 80%. So the net gain in one hour is 35% for ESR versus 46% for Apple. I don't think that difference is worth 5x the price difference. Also, with MagSafe, you have to pull the charger out of the back of the phone. At ESR, you simply pick up the phone.
