I'm glad the price of this tree came down below list price - it's still a bit pricey but I think I get where it's coming from . All parts of this tree - things that make it weatherproof - seem to play their part. I justify it kindly. The lights are fully encased in a rubber case making it quite weather resistant - a stand I'm not sure I'm okay with. It's a coated metal - but I'm not sure if it's rust resistant - I'll know by the end of the holiday season. First of all it's beautiful - the light is quite bright and it's fun to play with the settings and create your favorite look - if you put it outside you have to go out and change it if you decide you have a different look would like all the controls are attached to the tree - no remote control. at this price - I thought there was a remote control. it's ok - i put it on the timer box, set it and forget it. while I was setting it up, passers-by praised it, which helped. besides, it's beautiful. Cons: Base/stand - there is no locking mechanism. It flattens to 2 and you can extend it into a 4-pin stand, but it doesn't snap into place so every time you lift it to move it does exactly what it wants and you have to lean back to set it right. Get those prizes fast right here. and like i said it's just plated metal so fingers crossed it doesn't rust and stuff and when we get to january. Remote control - as I mentioned, this is the part of the tree on the power supply, and it's just a button that you press to get to your preferred setting. indoors - it's easier to play with / if you mount it outdoors - it might be easier to just leave it on whichever you start it with. Assembly - for the most part you can just build the poles and set up the tree. For me, the star doesn't really "go on". as I thought it would sit nicely and sit straight. that is not completely right. I have to force it somehow and it will move very easily. it also makes it a bit difficult at the top - so the bets came in very handy. Some fishing wires between levels got a little tangled in the wrong level so needed a lot of tweaking and correcting on the first build. then it looks like there should be a way in the photos to insert the bottom and attach it to the stand, but I couldn't figure it out; either I have a missing piece in the box or in my brain. I was able to assemble it so that it appears ok, but it doesn't necessarily look finished. But it works. All of these things are minor and can be edited to make them work for you - only in the 100-200 price range (the list is well over 200) it just doesn't seem like that much work. . It's beautiful and you'll get compliments for displaying it, and if the stand lasts you can use it for years.
