We had a plastic model (different brand) that worked fine for 10 years but in the end the bearing froze in the leg so we got the Chefman. I suspect they all use the same bearing and seal design, so time will tell if this holds up (or not). My wife prefers the metal construction of the Chefman. Since the blade is permanently fixed, you have to stuff a washcloth behind it to clean it - and you risk cutting your finger. But I think they are all the same. It works well.
