I received this item a few days ago and started installing it right away. I didn't even open the manual, connect my HDMI cable and turn on the device. Setting up the wireless network was easy, took about 4 minutes and I was connected to the internet. The player asked me to update, which I did and it took another 5 minutes or so (I have no idea what caused the update though). I first played with apps like Netflix and Pandora, both of which worked flawlessly once I activated them through my laptop. Netflix pulled my instant queue (showing nothing but your instant queue) and I settled on The Stonening Soraya M. To my pleasant surprise, I was streaming the movie in HD within minutes. The image quality was excellent with no glitches. I noticed that the movie doesn't stream HD audio, but I'm assuming it's Netflix related and not some sort of player issue. Pandora worked great, Youtube worked great, no complaints at all with these simple apps. Vudu (free HD movie streaming app) still not working as others have reported. Then I put in the Zombieland Blu-ray. Loading times seemed a little slow to me, it definitely took a nice amount of time compared to my PS3. I didn't hear any loud noises during startup, of course I could hear it being processed, but nothing obnoxious as some have said. Once loaded the picture was amazing as you would expect. I paired it with a Panasonic 65 inch plasma and it looked amazing. As for the audio part, I had to open the manual. You have to change a few presets in the audio section or your AV receiver will win. I am not receiving Dolby True HD or DTS Master Audio HD channels. I found this out when my Denon receiver's "blue HD light" wouldn't light up. After I made the changes, the HD Audio indicator came on and my receiver's display showed the DTS Master HD picture. I was using the fast forward function on the remote control and heard loud noises that others heard as well. The machine hesitated to do anything but made a series of awkward noises and eventually moved forward on the ride. This happened once, so I hope it was an isolated case. Other than that negative, the player was great. It is also very thin and has an elegant appearance.
