Review on πŸ”₯ First Alert BRK SC7010B: Hardwired Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector with Battery Backup - Reliable Protection in White by Alexander Morgan

Hate is not in words. Rampant false alarms, not just battery beeps

What's the deal with smoke alarms that go off between 1am and 4am? I have a maintenance schedule where I vacuum each of my alarms monthly and remove and check the batteries every 6 months. This is how I managed to avoid false alarms and battery chirps on all my other metal detectors. And yes, I'll admit I have a variety of makes and models (mainly due to the fact that one or the other is on sale); While they're all hardwired, I generally don't "benefit" from being connected to an alarm. Take it. It is also a photoelectric monitor that is supposed to almost completely rule out false alarms. EXCEPT for that &@%$ing thing that likes to kick off in the middle of the night. And not just an annoying chirping, but a full-fledged alarm clock. Luckily it's not related, it doesn't make my kids rooms stand out. That's the worst. 10 years ago. It's been a little over two years and probably around six false positives. Testing only resets the detector, there is no diagnostic method to find out what is going wrong. First Alarm simply offers to buy another one. Do not do that. There is a small disclaimer on the back of the detector that heat and humidity may limit its lifespan. I live in an old house in Houston, maybe that's why, but at $45 these things desperately need a better mechanism to determine why they're failing.
