After reading about the benefits of sous vide, I decided to buy a sous vide machine. I wanted to be able to cook foods like whole chicken and turkey breasts so the machine needs to have the power and ability to work in large pots. I chose the Joerid SV288 because it has 1000W of power and doesn't need to be connected to a mobile phone to work. When the device arrived, I installed it in a 20 liter plastic container and filled it with 16 liters of water. This amount of water resulted in the water level being just below the SV288's maximum fill line. Since I was skeptical that the device could heat so much water evenly, I placed a cooking thermometer in the corner of the plastic container as far away from the device as possible. The water I used was cold, straight from the tap. I connected the SV288 device and set the temperature to 136 degrees Fahrenheit and the time to 3 hours. I recorded the time when I started the device to heat water. The temperature on the device's display began to rise, eventually stabilizing at the set point of 136 degrees Fahrenheit. My probe thermometer reading was only 3-4 degrees Fahrenheit off the display. The instrument reached 136 degrees Fahrenheit. y target value after 51 minutes. The probe thermometer read 136 degrees after the device counted down three hours to 2 hours and 56 minutes. I wasn't expecting to see such a great result due to the large volume. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this result. I let the device continue to heat the water for about 1 1/2 hours. The readings of the device and my thermometer probe did not change, and both devices measured the same temperature. Now I'm ready to cook some dishes with this appliance. My first course will be a ribeye steak. I expect great results. So far this seems like a great device, capable of heating large amounts of water quickly and controlling the temperature at a specified level. I am very happy with this purchase.
