Couldn't detect hot/neutral swap (critical!)
I happened to come across an outlet with the hot and neutral wires reversed BUT THIS DEVICE DID NOT DETECT THIS! It didn't report ground contact, which was true, but it didn't report a much bigger problem! I would never have noticed, but I installed a GFCI outlet and the outlet refused to reset. I've tried multiple outlets and none of them reset. When I swapped the cables, I found the problem. Now it is clear that very rarely the wires are reversed. But what's the point if a tester doesn't provide accurate results?
