As soon as you take the spare parts out of the packaging, you will see. The black carbon part is mostly transparent. You can literally see through the carbon part and see the HEPA part on the back. there is almost nothing. When I first got the air purifier it picked up dust very well, but the replacement filters just didn't pick up as much dust. If I were you I would go and buy a new air purifier. Buy a higher quality Levit. I replaced 2 replacement filters on my Febreze and they hardly pick up any dust because the replacement filters are junk.
