My first attempt at making my own cables made the mistake of buying Cat6 originally, returned it and bought this Cat5e which is all I need for gigabit. With a crimping tool, cable tester, RJ45 connectors and some spade lugs, I went to the races to make my own cables. I know I can buy premade ones, but I love the fact that I can create custom length pieces and enjoy the fact that I can make them myself.
