Five stars with one caveat. Phottix is a sturdy little all-metal bug that will never come loose as long as the mounting screws are tight. The top has snaps that provide extra security when dressing. As for the cold shoe: At first I was afraid that the "crush" mechanism of the screw-in adjustable foot would break the plastic parts of my flash foot. However, if you pay close attention to how you tighten the foot screw, you will notice that the metal foot holders only make contact with the metal parts of the flash foot (at least that was the case on my Nikon sb910). keeping it in place doesn't sound like the best design. It consists of a thin screw that pushes a semi-circular piece of aluminum that touches the umbrella stem and fits snugly. It just seems like a lot of force is required for such a small diameter screw.
