These cleats really are solid brass, not dirty white metal, and finished to perfection. Likewise the screws. They are very durable, weigh a little more and don't scratch. These are good, so they are a bit more expensive. If you don't care about this aspect, I would advise you to just go for the cheaper ones, as you can get gold-chromed or brass-plated spikes cheaper. In addition, being unfinished brass, they tend to take on a less shiny patina or aged effect over time. You can always polish them with Brasso or just enjoy the natural patina. The screws give space for different thicknesses of leather and different designs. A little tip: After building the pattern and making all the holes, I put a drop of superglue (or LocTite) on the strings of the backing just before screwing them in, as these can loosen over time. Especially if they wear a motorcycle jacket or an armband where they are often pushed. So I've lost a few thorns over the years. However, be prepared that if you change your mind, you will never take them off again. If you are planning to use them on thinner fabrics please note that they are slightly heavier than the cheaper spikes and may sag a bit.
