I was hoping to replace my current lamp that lights up my bedroom. Got it as a gift for Christmas and was very disappointed when it was MUCH SOFTER (even on the brightest settings) than my old $20 college floor lamp. It's bright, but the light only covers a very small area. It will blind you if you point it at yourself, but if you don't point it at yourself it won't illuminate anything useful enough. I only use this lamp with other lamps because it is useless on its own. I would only use it as a reading lamp. If not for a gift. I would return. I had much higher expectations with all the great reviews on here.
