I have a Dell Latitude E6510 with DisplayPort. Apparently, many business projectors, depending on their age, have DisplayPort but no HDMI. As a business laptop, the Latitude has a DisplayPort connection for compatibility with more projectors. I don't use it with a projector, but I like to connect it to an HDTV, so I need a way to convert DisplayPort to HDMI. I previously purchased a DisplayPort to HDMI cable. It worked for a while but eventually stopped connecting to audio. The picture is displayed fine, but the Windows 7 audio control panel showed that Nvidia HDMI audio is not connected. I connected an HDMI cable to my TV for my other (with HDMI) laptop and camera, so I got this cheap adapter and not a brand new DisplayPort to HDMI cable. While it works perfectly, so does the sound, and if it fades, only the adapter needs to be replaced and not the entire cable.
