We bought these sponges thinking they were the standard sponges we usually buy in the store. We were wrong. These are better. You are stronger. The "cleaning side" is more like silicone, which cleans very well and is less abrasive to the touch than the standard hard sponge side. Don't think these softer sponges can't handle stuck food because they clean even better than the old traditional cleaning sponge. When we first opened them I thought the soft side of the sponge would fall apart. But they fought back. I used to throw away my old sponges because they looked dirty after a while. They don't have the unpleasant smell of sponge or dirt. They feel clean. And I have a feeling they make dish soap more soapy. I will buy them from now on.
