Bought a pair of these for use at work to replace the standard 1 inch spade bits I used. They do their job very well. well to the point where you have to be careful things run like scalds and the firewood eats through *fast* faster than expected if you're like me and used to the standard i took a few used uses to get used to how fast they cut through wood drill. All in all they are worth it to me. A bit pricey but if they last a long time that's ok. Bulky and a bit heavy (only a few ounces, but it adds up, especially for a tool belt that can be worn all day). If you prefer the standard, use the standard. If you think it's worth trying for your task, I would definitely recommend trying it. I haven't *completely* replaced my stock 1" paddle bit, but it still does probably 90% of the job I need it to do.
