The main reason I bought it was to connect my TV to some old floorstanding speakers I had. It was the only cheap receiver I could find with an optical input. For this purpose it works as I had hoped. I also use it occasionally to play music from my phone via Bluetooth, connection is easy. I'm not a music lover, but the sound is normal for my purposes. The main downside is that the user interface isn't the best, especially the remote control as mentioned by others. Also, the "mode" button works much better as a knob that stays in place as I have to toggle between bluetooth, radio, etc. every time I turn it on so I can set up the optical cable.
