I love that it's made of steel and I feel like I'm less exposed to microplastics. But, man, the amount of patience it takes to make ice cubes is straining my relationship with drinks. There could be a design flaw here - the bottom of the tray isn't entirely flat, it's concave and will only get worse over time. I've tried gently hammering it back in, but it never stays. So the shell creates a thick solid layer of ice that holds all the ice cubes together like the One Ring of Sauron, interfering with the trigger mechanism. And by interference I mean Andre the Giant couldn't break this ice into pieces - until I wait about 10 minutes for the ice to start to melt and then I get a handle to properly dice the ice. Sometimes I get impatient because I just need a cold drink at that moment and I don't wait a full ten minutes and push the button and I end up with ice cream. But not cubes, but a jumble of shards of ice. My buddy says crushed ice is a luxury feature on some fridges, so maybe I'm just a kid.
