Decent hub but lots of ethernet issues and no way to extend USB-C cable to laptop

This was the best device I found for the price along with all the features. I thought it was perfect. Upon arrival I liked the small size and very light weight. Felt perfect. Connected monitors and everything worked. I love that it's plain black and the USB-C cable to connect my computer was on the side instead of the front. I also really liked that all the inputs that require cables were on the back so everything plugged in and out on the back and none on the back like other hubs and docks I've seen side sticking out. However, the cons were enough to bring me back: Problem #1: The ethernet port is NOT working. I struggled for the first week to figure out why. I had to install drivers and updates but it didn't work. I've done it ten times. Played with computer settings and device manager. I emailed support and they responded pretty poorly. I emailed them once and it took them about 2 days to get back to me. Then after saying hello and thanking you for reaching out they never replied lol. I kept having to play around with the settings and various troubleshooting methods. I'm good with computers and I'm good with 'more technical' things, so I wasn't afraid to try different things, but I can see that the average person doesn't want to do everything. I even spent a good 3 hours on Youtube trying different solutions. This was annoying because I didn't expect or want all these problems just because of the ethernet connection. For a few days I even thought I just couldn't use it, but then I realized that when it's there I want to use it. I emailed support again and after another 2 days they finally responded. They gave me some simple instructions that were already in the box. I tried again to be safe, but it still didn't work. I emailed them that I needed more help but they didn't really give me much help. In the end I figured it out myself. My solution was to uninstall/erase the entire device from Device Manager in Windows 10. Uninstalled and uninstalled, restarted the computer and suddenly it worked. I was glad that I had solved the problem once and for all. At least I thought so! It worked fine for the rest of the day, but after unplugging the computer for the day and returning to use it the next day, I found the ethernet port was down again. I was confused and thought maybe it was a coincidence. Did the same procedure to remove the Ethernet device from my Device Manager list, rebooted and worked again. Long story short, I realized that every time I unplugged and plugged my laptop back into this hub, the ethernet port stopped working and I had to repeat the entire process of removing the device. It's easy, but it's frustrating to realize I have to follow these steps if I want to connect to Ethernet. Problem #2: The cable that comes with the kit to connect to your computer is quite short and this limits the positioning of your computer. hub or your laptop. It's okay if you place your computer right next to a hub and assume your laptop has a USB-C port on the right side. Another way it works well is to place the hub directly behind the computer. Also, you are limited in the placement and organization of your USB hub. I figured buying a USB-C extension cable might fix the problem. The solution seemed simple enough. I looked on Amazon and decided I would buy a good cable and did my homework finding the right cables that would carry the right signals to ensure I could keep charging and data transferring. I ordered a cable and it didn't work with the hub. It just seemed like a coincidence. I ordered another cable and it worked pretty well for two days, then the hub stopped recognizing the cable and it just didn't work at all. I ordered a third and another cable and had the same problem as with the second cable - the hub just didn't recognize it and wouldn't work. I really wanted to love this hub. and if at least the ethernet port is working i would look into the short usbc cable that comes with it. but these two issues make it a deal breaker and I have to return it UPDATE: I got the ethernet port to work stably (I think). But now a new problem has emerged. For some reason the hub stopped powering my laptop. It was losing power and charging it perfectly when I first got it and then suddenly stopped working. Now the new problem is that it doesn't work when I plug power into the hub. As soon as I turn off the power, it starts working. I also got a replacement unit, thinking it would help, but it didn't. Maybe it's my laptop. But I can't find any solution that solves this. I also don't think I did anything to suddenly change it. Is it the fact that ethernet and power cannot work at the same time? rzunimag. I'm not sure. I'll try to buy a reliable brand and see if that works. UPDATE 3/20/21 I have received another replacement unit, this will be the third unit. Plugged it in and was happy to see it worked fine this time. Plugged it in and it worked! Ethernet, Power Passthrough, and most other ports I've tested so far. Two days pass and again it is impossible to go through food. The computer will blink on and off and detect the hub until it is completely disabled. I'm not sure what's going on with these units. Will have to go back and switch from another brand once and for all. :( I wanted to like it. Very slim and has many ports and options.
