If you can buy a processor at retail price ($400), it's a great buy if you don't want to go the AMD route. Basically it's the performance of the i9 9900k at the same price. There were some concerns about idle and load temperatures, but I didn't see temperatures exceeding 65C even during continuous stress testing at stock clock speeds. If you plan on overclocking your CPU, investing in a better cooling solution (probably an AIO with a 240mm radiator) and a motherboard with decent VRMs doesn't seem like a problem.
