After the engine replacement, the new engine had a different upper cross member for the radiator, so the old hood latch system could not work properly. My options were: A: Spend $200 to replace the hood, or B: Spend $12 on it. Eating is understandable. They're actually not that ugly on a 1986 Jeep Cherokee. I'll admit to worrying about this, but I and a lot of other people find them pretty stylish. I installed them on the outside corners of the two large rectangular sections that make up the Jeep hood, but I've seen them installed on the far corner. I prefer a tighter mount, the outer mount looks plumper. Sure, the Jeeps aren't speed demons, but they easily survived a 200-mile trip down the interstate. The hood cracks at highway speeds, likely due to adjustment issues. Don't regret this $12 fix.
