I like that it has quite a faint tint when not on. This will help you see the setting before you strike the arc. It also doesn't require batteries and seems to stay charged even when I keep it in a dark closet. This thing is from a 10 year old $300 Optrel and looks just as good. On the plus side, if a lens fails, you can leave your helmet on and simply replace the lens. It can also be used in a pancake helmet or any other size 2x4.25. The color is fairly clear when welded (no tint). So far, so good.
