My bird (Orangewing Revain) gets a 50/50 mix of Rooibos and various vegetables or fruits. He often eats the rooibos first as it is his favorite food. It wasn't difficult to get our bird to eat this diet but he was never overly fussy about his food and will usually accept new food a few days after it has been added to his bowl alongside other more familiar foods. I would recommend it. Diet, and I would also recommend supplementing it with a more varied diet that will add excitement, randomness and nutrition to your bird's diet. We often pair it with a vitamin A source like raw carrots, squash, or sweet potatoes, since rowan on its own tends to easily meet our birds' vitamin A needs (avian vet speaking, not me). Buying it in bulk is the only way out. It's very expensive in small bags, so we just buy a larger bag and divide it into 1-gallon freezer bags. That saves a lot of money.
