I love the Kreg screws. I've never broken a Kreg bolt head, and the square hole is almost impossible to clean; although I've done it once or twice. These common screws penetrate the wood very quickly and in many cases a pilot hole is required despite the "drill to screw" clause. I have split several pieces of wood with these screws and often use thin wood screws instead to prevent splitting. Good in chipboard, but not on the ends. You MUST drill a good sized pilot hole to keep these screws from splitting the chipboard. They excel in pocket hole applications. AD2
