Measurements as described - Good size leather strap. I decided to attach it to a piece of pine wood I had laying around for better control when working with sharp objects. After liberally applying the included green compound to the skin and making a few dozen passes with the blade, I noticed a few areas where the compound was beginning to flake (as other people have mentioned). I added some petroleum jelly, processed it and added some more compound and never had a problem again. This sling gave a razor-sharp edge to my already sharp Rapala 4" fish fillet knife and a pair of my 5.11 Morakniv carbon and stainless steel blades. Along the way, I kept testing regularly until each of them could easily cut through a sheet of computer paper. but this size really fits most of my blades and I choose it now.
