This 1TB external SSD is incredibly fast and for the price you can't beat it. I bought the device mainly to run various blockchains on it, since the transfer/processing speed is much higher on an SSD than on an HDD. With daily use of a hard drive, downloading the blockchain took about an hour; With this SSD, the load was reduced to about 3 minutes per day. Note that you need to reformat the drive to ext4 if you are exclusively using Linux (the device will not transfer to Windows/Mac either). I had horrible download/transfer speeds on both blockchain and standard file transfer tests (worse than hard drives) when the drive was formatted to NTFS. Also, make sure you connect it to your computer's USB 3.0+ port. Some computers have a mix of old and new generation USB ports, and plugging into a 2.0 port will impact your performance.
