It's really thick and will be comfortable in cold weather. It's more than I expected but it's just room to grow and I have no problem. At the moment I've paired it with shorts/slacks to keep it from looking baggy. It can be worn at any time of the year, which is why I gave it five stars. The sleeves were long but my son is only a year old so as expected I just tucked them in. Just go down one size if your child is over 2 years old.
