READ THE FINE SEAL - Not for high protein/alkaline diets

This supplement was recommended to me by my vet after my two older cats were diagnosed with hyperthyroidism which is why they are both taking metimizole. . You don't have CKD. She explained that it is very important to start taking it now to prevent future kidney problems as they are often associated with the thyroid. Okay, fast forward a few months after reluctantly giving them this supplement at the RDA. One cat was so dehydrated I had to give her SubQ liquids and she looked like she was dying. I juggled different supplements to keep her hydrated and constipated. Another cat developed some fairly serious respiratory problems and a SEVERE UTI. She was number one everywhere except in her litter box, sometimes some slimy blood in the litter box, crystals when she used the litter box, and it smelled like ammonia. None of my cats have ever had this problem. Then I stumbled across a review that said cats shouldn't be fed if they're on a high-protein/grain-free diet. It is L-arginine that can create a toxic load on the body. Of course, this product is designed for low-protein diets (which do absolutely nothing to treat the underlying disease and are incredibly harmful to cats). So I stopped giving them, treated UTIs with herbal tincture and a homeopathic remedy. My two older kittens have tried several Pet Wellbeing products (Kidney Support Gold, Detox Gold and Urinary Gold), daily fish oil, ReVITALIZE (instead of AminaVast) and hemp oil - and the kittens are thriving again.
