Review on ART EQ341 Channel Graphic Equalizer by Jairo Cunha

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very good equalizer at a great price!

I am very glad I made this purchase as the ART EQ341 seems very good in its original overall quality and excellent in sound quality, especially considering the price! It just plugs into my receiver - between the preamp and amp sections - without "most" of the obvious problems mentioned here a few years ago. It's nice to think that this company is doing something to solve consumer problems! Visually this block looks a lot nicer than it appears, despite the fact that the rotatable level adjustment marks are not "perfectly" aligned with the center mounting positions (it doesn't matter in use anyway). image and with a slight creative approach. , "MAY" also fit very well off the shelf. In my opinion. An idea: if you're good at woodworking and want a more 'traditional' look, it would be fairly easy to build a simple case to match your other components so you could plug the EQ341 into it. The only real limitation I have concerns the fork. If you're planning on plugging it into your home receiver's switched outlet to have it all work together, remember that this unit's plug is a three-prong plug. and receiver sockets are usually not available. While there are ways around this, I strongly recommend not defeating its purpose. In any case, the "haptics" of the sliders are impressive, combined with the apparently solid construction of the entire device. It kind of reminded me of an old EQ I treasured from the late 70's to early 00's; regardless of size, of course. Fidelity has always been an important part of my music life and this unit's ability to balance a wide spectrum of sounds without adding unwanted distractions is quite good. Maybe that's more than I really need right now! My ears are getting a little old so I couldn't hear the 16k range settings. But a friend tells me she can and that it gives the music a little more "open" quality. The 6.3k and 10k bands "kinda" did it for me and helped with vocal clarity in some cases. By the way: The range setting +/-6 dB was used here. I have CDs with very deep bass and speakers that can reproduce it well. And the ART EQ341 did not disappoint in this area either. The 40Hz, 63Hz, and 100Hz sliders did a great job of balancing out some of the compromises made in speaker placement for the left channel, while the 25Hz range helped me to get more out of the bottom combo speaker. I also found that the 1.6k, 2.5k and 4k ranges gave the vocals a bit more punch/clarity, while the 160Hz, 250Hz, 400Hz and 630Hz ranges effectively brought the scene closer or pushed it back a bit. And the 1k slider adjusted that very important band pretty well. These are just a few of the nearly limitless ways in which the EQ341 can effectively tailor the sound to your own needs/preferences. While researching this device, I read some conflicting statements about the warranty period from ART. Well I am pleased to report that it is clearly stated in the user manual as THREE YEARS with normal "industry standard” terms and exceptions. A few years ago I almost added this EQ to my stereo, but I didn't, mainly because it felt cheap considering how I protect my system. Also, I had never heard of Applied Research and Technology (ART) before. But now that I've gotten one, I'm glad I finally made the move. Because while it's not perfect, for $115 there's no better way for me to enhance my listening pleasure!
