Take the money you would pay for it and invest it in a better, faster car.

I have been a K&N fan for years and have been disappointed with both the fit and functionality of this intake kit for my 2014 Kia Optima. The installation instructions were vague (especially regarding how to use the hardware) and several steps were out of order. The biggest problem was that it just didn't quite fit, like things were a little off. To be honest I was wondering if they ever tested this kit on anything after it was developed. For example, the back of the K&N heat shield/housing had to be bent slightly to prevent it from touching the master cylinder reservoir, and I had to bend the filter mount itself to keep the filter from contacting it. Also, they tell you to reinstall the OEM air intake housing, but the rear end needs to be pinched between the battery and the new K&N intake pipe. There were other small issues like the need for a 45 degree fitting (not included) to keep one of the vacuum hoses from twisting and the gasket you get for the top edges of the heat shield. not flexible enough to follow contours without ballooning. This $300 kit ends up looking like a shoddy piece someone made for $50. The engine bay of a modern car is too well planned for a "close enough" kit. K&N should be ashamed of letting these issues get past the design phase and into production. Finally, when I completed the installation, set everything up and minimized unnecessary contacts as much as possible, I found that the noise produced by this kit was unpleasant about 80% of the time. At higher RPMs (3500+) at full throttle it sounds GREAT. Under normal driving conditions, it's terribly loud at low revs. Not a cool loud or pleasant rumble, but more like there's a crappy car parked next to you that's lost its entire exhaust system and is stuck at high idle. I removed this kit from my car two days later and will be returning it to Revane. It was a disappointment at every turn (except for Revane's role in it. They were amazing). In summary, this kit is not worth the time, money or effort. If you have a Sonata or Optima with a 2.4 liter engine like mine and you want it to go faster or sportier, I suggest doing what I'm about to do: take the money you're paying for would spend this kit and save it for a sportier one. , better, faster car. Admit it. You should have received a 2.0 Turbo model.
