Disappointed for my opinion

We're happy with the construction of the pit design is as expected. Our problem is that after trying 4 different types of lava rock and or crystals they all shoot out while flames are on. It literally has to be empty for us to be able to use it. It's extremely dangerous and now just looka tacky with the piping exposed. Any help from the seller to recommend a proper rock for it would be great.
