Review on Topeak Mini MasterBlaster Bike Pump by Jacob Rasmussen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent emergency pump

A few years ago, after some bad experiences with CO2, I dedicated myself entirely to the mini pump. The mini pump is in my back pocket on every ride. Lately I've been more into "gravelbreakers" over long distances. Last week there was an explosion a few miles from the finish line. I reached into my pocket. NO PUMP! It must have turned up somewhere in the last 50 miles of dirt roads. When I reached the finish line I decided it was time to get a custom pump for this bike. I have a Topeak Master Blaster in my commuter backpack. Because of the reputation this pump was ordered. Installing the pump on the bike boss was easy. It does not come into contact with the frame and does not interfere with holding the bottle. The mount has a strap and cap integrated into the mount that protects the pump head. It must be reliable and must not rattle regardless of the surface. I deflated the tire to test the efficiency of the pump. It took about 90 pumps to inflate a 700x32 tire to about 65 pounds. As with most mini pumps, it takes a bit more power at the end. Because it is a double-acting pump, the same force is required to both push and pull. I hope I don't have to use it too often, but it's like insurance, it's there when I need it.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
