Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good idea, not the best design

**I didn't have the kit when it arrived. I bought the quick release pin and a few other parts separately and Revain gave me a discount so I won't let that affect my rating, but it's worth noting that ** takes forever to install. I'm a fairly competent weekend mechanic and it took me a few hours to get the torque specs right, adjust, adjust etc. The instructions are terrible (mine was torn). Eventually, if you use common sense, they will become consistent. The idea behind this product is brilliant. This is one of the few devices that allows your child to ride a bike and then plug it back in when they get tired. I didn't want a Follow Me product because they can't drive themselves. I like this idea but it's a bit cheap and flimsy. Many people have complained that the part that connects to the children's bike frame is lost and rotates. I installed non-slip rubber parts and torqued them to specification with a torque wrench and had no problems. However, I have a tilting issue that many complain about. I've read that if you change the direction of rotation of the seatpost connector, the tilt should be minimized or eliminated. I got lucky after reconfiguring a few times. I'll try again but I guess it's just a fact with these. Anyway both my 3 year old and 5 year old boys love to ride behind me. We just brought this to the Iowa Traders Jamboree (22 miles one way) and they loved it. The tilt is a bit annoying and can make the steering a bit uncomfortable for parents. I rode on the gravel a few times due to my kids leaning back and forth (on purpose). They didn't complain that it was uncomfortable or annoying, but it's there. This is less pronounced in a lighter child. Switching from towing to self-propelling is quick and easy. Just pull out a few quick release pins and you can switch in 2 minutes. No problem and I'm impressed with how easy it is and how well it stays on my bike when not in use. With that said, let's save it. Not the best, but fun and works well enough.
