I tried a pair of these binoculars for my kids and was impressed. I just ordered another set so I don't have to share them when hiking. Fixed focus is convenient for them, they don't fiddle with dials and focus on the focus, not the subject. Very clearly. It would be great to have a set to keep around camp or in your car. Or bird watching in the backyard. I'm probably not the best judge, but if, like me, all you've ever had was the standard 7x35 porro prism binoculars everyone had as a kid, just forget that experience. Optics have come a long way.
