Review on Nifty Norpro Stainless Steel Funnel: Wide-Mouth with Handy Handle by Pascal Santos

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Usable but poor workmanship

I bought two of these in one order. Good news: the polished finish on the outside is fine. an almost identical funnel that we bought many years ago. The thickness of the metal is adequate but not as heavy as the thickness of the metal on the funnel we bought years ago. Not so good news: As others have reported, the edges of the funnel are uncomfortably frayed. Not sure if they will cut your fingers (didn't press hard enough or move my fingers around the edges to find out). But I felt like if I wasn't careful I could cut my fingers on both the top and bottom edges and maybe the handle. Not ideal for a kitchen tool that you intend to use frequently. My solution: I liked the funnels well enough to take flak and steel wool and smooth the edges on both. So yes, I now have two comfortable funnels, but. It took me about twenty minutes to do what the manufacturer was supposed to do from the start. I feel like Norpro could charge a dollar or two more and do the job for us. Recommendation: If you are mechanically inclined, bring a file and steel wool. If not, maybe stay away from this funnel or take a risk. Note that not everyone is concerned about the ending of this funnel. I had a hard time ignoring the sharpness of the edges, so I don't think I was overly picky. It is possible that the manufacturer will release batches with higher quality and lower quality finishes, which will be reflected in positive and negative reviews.
