Review on πŸ“· AOKA Lightweight Compact Carbon Fiber Tripod: 15.7in/0.97lb, 360Β° Ballhead, Travel Mini Tripod for Mobile Phone and Mirrorless Cameras by Rick Malloy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very good but not exactly what I was looking for

This tripod is very well made and well worth the money. However, it's too long for my bag or pocket, but it's not large enough to be much larger than a table tripod. My smallest full-size tripod, a Gitzo Traveler, spans 5 feet but weighs just 2.2 pounds. Okay, it's a $500+ tripod, but there's not much to carry and I don't have to get on my knees to use it. I chose the Ulanzi mini tripod. It's about the same price as Aoka, carbon fiber, etc., but the Ulanzi is only 8.25 inches long and after swapping out the Ulanzi head for the 1.5-ounce Velbon QHD-21 head (unfortunately heavy outside of Asia to find) full Ulanzi comes in 7.2 oz. Performance wise, the Aoka tripod is better and offers more bang for the buck, but unless I'm using a "real" tripod, I want the smallest and lightest tripod I can find. Five stars for packaging, accessories and Aoka case. You can spend $1200 on Gitzo and all you get is a wrench and a canvas.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Obsolete model
